We arrived last night, and have already started the good times! I am pretty sure some of our costumes are going to be hysterical! BTW you can check out our adventures online as they happen.
Apparently we’re going somewhere in the Morning? I don’t know. Anyway, I finished up latest entirely too long and rambling movie review, which I have affectionately dubbed “In Defense of Final Fantasy Spirits Within.” You can find it in the movie review section under “Misc.”

So the Bear-avan leaves bright and early for D*C tomorrow. I don't know about everyone else, but I am bouncing off the walls packing and putting the last bits of costumes together.
Dragon Con is almost here. We actually leave for ATL on Tuesday so I am putting the last touches on things, and will not lie. I am in disbelief that R2 actually is ready for D*C this year! Yeah he is not 100% done, but he is better than ever, and actually more finished than Mt First R2 ever was!!! DRAGONCON!!!!
Here we are at the week marker for the start of our road trip to Dragon*Con. Time to rev up those excite bikes!
Team Discount Carpet would also like to let you know that the drink of preference in congratulating us on our assured win is undetermined. Please feel free to use your best judgement. Thanks in advance.
So I am getting ready to go to the avengers shoot again tonight and man I am so excited for everything life has to offer. I cannot offer any information, but will say the experience has been awesome, and makes me even more excited to see all my friends at Dragon Con in 10 days. It was funny because the extras have begun a comradery that seems to grow throughout the night and reminds me so much of D*C! It will be sad tomorrow when we finish, but bitter sweet as it will mean I have a couple days to get packed up and head to D*C!!!! WOOOOO!!! Cannot wait to see you all soon!
DragonCon is almost here? Where has the year gone??? But with Dragon Con comes good friends, times, and drinks. But guess who is going to make an appearance again? That is right, R2 is locked, loaded and ready to roll. After not bringing him for a few years, it looks like he will make it for this one. He may even have a costume or two of his own! I cannot wait to see everyone there, and until then good luck knocking out the last of your stuff!
Can you believe, it is a mear 15 days till dragon con? Feels like the last one was just yesterday. That said I decided to post a time lapse video of my recent joker sculpt. Which I am amazed that I not only finished it for D*C, but I finished it with 15 days to spare! Check out the video though, I have always loved watching time lapse videos, and hey this time it is something I made! The question is what to do next, and do I try for Dragon Con???? Hmmmmmmm, anyhow have a good one and enjoy!
So I know I keep posting images of my new Joker prosthetics, but I have never made something this complicated. I have always wanted to make my own foam latex sculpts, but was always intimidated by the process. Now that I have done it, I am pretty happy with the results so far, and look forward to doing more in the future. Each pull I learn more, and each one gets a little better! Watch for tutorials and videos on how I did mine!
Also with only 18 days left till dragon con, check out our flicker feed for pictures of our progress as we upload pictures from projects while we get ready!
As you may have noticed we have a bear crew twitter page now. This can be viewed at http://twitter.com/#!/TKBearCrew. Feel free to stop by and follow. You can also always see the feed live here on the website as well.
I will upload details as to how I made the prosthetic soon, but in the mean time this is how it looks so far. I hope to pull 1 or 2 more before dragon con too, for backups and so on. I guess that is one project down, 200 to go!
So I am casting my joker prosthetic today. I have my doubts as to if this will turn out correcting today, but we will find out in a few hours. In the mean time if you are interested as to how to cast foam latex the followings is an excellent video. It is about casting for a pupet, but the same process applies to foam latex prosthetics.
Joker Progress has been made! I with the fact that I will be using my own sculpt for joker soon, I will be completely redoing the Joker how to section. It will include all you need to know to do your own prosthetic, or buy one and just paint it.
Anyhow here is how the sculpt looks today! All that is left is to smooth some more stuff out and add skin texture, then it is the frightening mold time. I have 29 days left to finish for D*C.
